About the Contest The #algos Programming Contest 2005 is the first official programming contest of the #algos community at Freenode. The primary focus is to inculcate the importance of scientific programming techniques, effective data structures and optimal algorithms into the programming community. The tentative date for the contest as of now is 1st March 2005. We are looking forward to a small-medium sized contest with nearly 70-100 participants. The problems will be primarily of the same type as the ACM ICPC. Please take a look at the ACM ICPC problems at http://online-judge.uva.es/cgi-bin/OnlineJudge?Volume:100 to get a feel of the types of problems. Individuals as well as teams with two members can participate in the contest. Around 8 problems will be posted during the contest which would last 5-7 hours. The teams solving the maximum number of problems in the shortest time period will be deemed winners. Languages We would be looking forward to accept almost any popular language that has an open-source compiler and can be safely run on the x86 platform. If you are looking forward to code in any language other than C, C++, Java, Perl or Python then please inform us in advance. Rules Contest rules will be formulated and released 5 days before the contest. In brief you can assume that you will have to solve around 8 problems in 5 hours. Your code is not allowed to make external system calls and cannot assume the presence of any utilities or special libraries. You shall be provided with only the standard language/library environment for your programs. |
